Dear Readers,
you are aware how during the pontificate of Saint John Paul II a number of lay movements were approved by the Vatican. Some of these have now demonstrated weaknesses in the founder and in the foundation structure. One we may have mentioned already is the Heralds of the Gospel which continues to spread in Latin America despite Vatican censures.
For a few years questions have been raised regarding the Peruvian group called Sodalits, Sodalitium Vitae Christianae, founded by lay person Figari who held sway among the Peruvian elite. The Vatican sent “visitators” to look into complaints, the dependable posse of Maltese Archbishop Charles Scicluna and his side-kick Catalan Mons. Jordi Bartimeu. Their report has been devastating, leading to the recent Vatican move to suppress this foundation.
